Scholarship Details
The Indonesian Government KNB Scholarship offers an exceptional opportunity to study at one of Indonesia’s 31 partner universities. With a focus on enhancing the research capacity of Indonesian higher education, this scholarship not only provides a quality degree program but also immerses you in one of the world’s most diverse and vibrant societies.
In 2025, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia will accept a total of 222 KNB Scholarship applicants:
- 30 for Bachelor’s awards
- 162 for Master’s awards
- 30 for Doctoral awards
Eligibility Requirements
For Bachelor’s Applicants
- Age: Maximum 21 years old
- Academic Qualification: Hold a High School degree (Bachelor degree holders are not eligible for the Bachelor’s scholarship)
- English Proficiency:
- TOEFL ITP: 477, or
- TOEFL IBT: 53, or
- IELTS: 5.5, or
- TOEIC: 510
(Certificate must be within the last 2 years. Applicants from English-speaking countries or programs may attach official proof instead.)
- Recommendation Letters:
- From the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General
- From your employer/immediate supervisor (if working)
- Academic recommendation from previous schools
- Other Documents:
- Academic Certificate and Transcript (High School) in English or Bahasa
- Valid Official Passport (at least 2 years validity)
For Master’s Applicants
- Age: Maximum 35 years old
- Academic Qualification: Hold a Bachelor’s degree (Master degree holders are not eligible for the Master’s scholarship)
- English Proficiency:
- TOEFL ITP: 500, or
- TOEFL IBT: 61, or
- IELTS: 6.0, or
- TOEIC: 575
(Certificate must be within the last 2 years. Proof from English-speaking countries or English-taught programs may be attached.)
- Recommendation Letters:
- From the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General
- From your employer/immediate supervisor (if working)
- Academic recommendation from previous schools
- Other Documents:
- Academic Certificate and Transcript (Bachelor’s) in English or Bahasa
- Valid Official Passport (at least 2 years validity)
For Doctoral Applicants
- Age: Maximum 40 years old
- Academic Qualification: Hold a Master’s degree (Doctorate degree holders are not eligible for the Doctorate scholarship)
- English Proficiency:
- TOEFL ITP: 530, or
- TOEFL IBT: 71, or
- IELTS: 6.0, or
- TOEIC: 640
(Certificate must be within the last 2 years. Proof from English-speaking countries or English-taught programs may be attached.)
- Additional Requirements:
- A recommendation letter from a potential research supervisor at one of the partner universities
- A statement of purpose outlining your study intentions, research interests, and academic future (dissertation proposal) in English or Bahasa
- Recommendation Letters:
- From the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General
- From your employer/immediate supervisor (if working)
- Academic recommendation from previous schools
- Other Documents:
- Academic Certificate and Transcript (Master’s) in English or Bahasa
- Valid Official Passport (at least 2 years validity)
